This is a beautiful late medieval arming sword in museum quality condition. The large pommel appears to be a variant of the type V. Cross guard quillons are basically square, but the flats are concaved making it more of a 4 pointed star in cross section. The ends are convex, rounded. There are large straps-ears welded to the cross guard and riveted to either side of the tang. Everything is very tight. The blade is the stunning part of this sword. Smooth surface with very light pitting. Well defined central ridge & slightly convex blade contours. Very little metal loss to edges. Blade appears to be its full original length. Still quite sharp. Very nicely balanced. This sword is the show piece of my collection, as it would be for most.
Overall length 38 5/8", blade 31 5/16" long, 1 7/8" wide. Cross guard 6 3/4" wide. Weight 2 Lbs. 4.5 oz.
